Sarah Smyth
Screen Officer - International Distribution & Commercial Develop, Screen Scotland

Key Expertise: Project Management
Other Expertise: Marketing and PR, Business Development
A highly creative, goal orientated professional with fifteen years communications, event management and film curation experience specific to film festivals. In-depth knowledge and proven track record of communications for arts, film and technology using traditional and digital media.
Project Management has played a large role in my career development since entering the festival sector fifteen years ago and I have become adept at responding to the exigencies of each film festival that I work with. An example of this is as Festival Director of Kerry Film Festival I was responsible for delivering the festival across a large geographical area in the South-West of Ireland to six different towns using highly limited resources.
After my first year I changed the festival format from a simultaneously delivered event to a month-long touring programme that better responded to the available resources. I am currently working with Queens Film Theatre on a short-term project, QFT50, that celebrates 50 years of the cinema. The project consists of a month-long programme of events, a touring exhibition and the compilation and production of a commemorative publication. Through work such as this I have gained a vast amount of experience in managing resources successfully and finding inventive solutions to the kind of challenges faced by festival on an every day basis.
