Key Expertise: Technical Skills
Paul has been involved in the exhibition of films with Saffron Screen since it opened in 2006. Saffron Screen is a community based cinema which started using 35mm equipment and in 2011 moved over to digital, although keeping the 35mm facility for occasional screenings. He has fulfilled roles as Projectionist, Technical Manager, and Business Manager. Whilst leading the projection team in 2010, they were recipients of the prestigious UK Projection Team of the Year award. He joined the Board of Saffron Screen in 2017 as Technical Director and became Chair in May 2018. He is still involved with projection, in particular assisting with pop-up and live satellite broadcasts.
Paul is also a Director of the Cinema Technology CIC, a not-for-profit organisation that aims to advance the use of technology to enhance all aspects of the movie-going experience. He was also a Technical Ambassador for the British Film Institute and in this role has visited many cinemas and film societies to advise on improving sound and picture quality.
