Before taking over the Rio, Oliver had more than a decades experience working for Independent cinemas in London. Starting as an Usher at Screen on the Hill, he also worked for Riverside Studios and Everyman in Hampstead in FOH and Duty Manager roles. He has now been running the Rio for four years, taking it from a cinema on the verge of closure, to opening a second screen and looking at future site expansion.
Oliver managed a successful fundraising campaign that raised £125,000 for the Rio. The campaign, called Riogeneration, was to raise funds for a second screen and renovation of the exterior of the building . Oliver has spoken on fundraising at City Hall for the Mayor of London, Venice film festival for CICAE and Sofia film festival for Europa Cinemas.
