Colm is a film curator, producer, lecturer and writer. He is a senior film programmer for Leeds International Film Festival and has worked in programming roles for many other festivals including Cork Film Festival, London Short Film Festival, and Sheffield Doc/Fest.
He has worked on a strategic level with a number of film-related institutions and companies, most recently Shooting People where he co-developed the New Shoots film competition intitative for young and emerging filmmakers.
Colm has extensive writing skills — bid writing, copy writing — and has successfully received funding for projects from the BFI, Arts Council England, Arts Council Ireland and many more. His writing has appeared in The Guardian, Sight and Sound, New Statesman while he has also worked as a mentor and/or co-producer on a number of film projects which have played across the film circuit in the UK, Europe and the USA.
He is especially interesed in collaborative work around developing film festival strategies and working on the positioning of film-related initiatives within the current field.
