Charlotte has both a personal and professional perspective on accessibility, being hard of hearing and partially sighted herself. She was the Disability Officer for RGU: Union for two years, leading campaigns on inclusion and and liaising with university parties to ensure a safe and accessible campus. She is currently a Director for North East Sensory Services, and a freelance film journalist and access consultant.
Charlotte has undertaken several projects with a focus on access, advocating for accessible cinema screenings and launching an initiative to encourage online film publications to utilise accessibility features to accommodate D/deaf and blind audiences. Charlotte has extensive knowledge on disability issues, with a speciality in access issues affecting D/deaf and/or blind people.
Charlotte is knowledgeable in accessible social media, marketing, and both physical and virtual screening events for disabled and d/Deaf audiences. She has provided deafness and disability awareness training sessions for front-of-house cinema staff, and has led workshops on digital access.
