Berwyn started sharing LGBT+ films with audiences in 1989 when he established the first International film festival in Wales. From 1997 to 2006 he was the Chief Executive of Sgrin Cymru Wales. In 2006 he established the Iris Prize – at £30,000 the world’s largest LGBT short film prize presented annually during the Iris Prize Festival in Cardiff, Wales. He is a guest speaker at SXSW 2019 looking at how festivals can support the sector beyond just screening films.
He is regularly asked to talk about film and LGBT+ issues on TV and radio.
